North and South Hykeham Joint Neighbourhood Plan review

Following the adoption of the new Local Plan Adopted Local Plan 2023 | Central Lincolnshire Local Plan (n-kesteven.gov.uk) it was unanimously agreed at the meeting of South Hykeham Parish Council held on 13th September 2023 that the Neighbourhood Plan should be reviewed in order to ensure it is consistent with local and national planning policy. Council felt that was particularly important with the future major developments including the Hykeham Relief Road and the development of Grange Farm where around 2000 new dwellings are proposed in this locality.
The Neighbourhood Plan covers local matters such as housing, protection of green spaces, the environment and historical features and assets all of which are important considerations when there are planning developments coming forward which may impact upon the local community and the surrounding area. It is a community-led planning document which includes local planning policy and is instrumental in helping to shape future planning decisions for the area.
The Councils are keen to form a working party of interested parishioners, local businesses and other stakeholders to be involved in the joint review which will be led by South Hykeham Parish Council and North Hykeham Town Council. The review of the Plan will look at shaping the approach to the future development of the South Hykeham area and will seek to raise the standards and quality of new development including the creation of new homes, businesses and facilities in appropriate locations that residents will regard as a positive legacy for future generations.
Over the next few months there will be the opportunity to participate in this process either by joining the working party or attending the meetings or consultation events to ‘have your say’ on what should be considered and included in the review of the Neighbourhood Plan.
