Armistice Day Trip - Sir Robert Pattinson Academy

Armistice Trip 2025

On Tuesday 11th November three students attended a Remembrance service at the St Michael and All Angels’ Church in South Hykeham. The students, which were a mixture of cadets and service children, were joined by two members of staff to witness the ceremony lead by Reverand Collins.

During the excursion students listened to readings, watched the laying of wreaths and joined in with the two-minute silence to pay their respects to those that have lost their lives in conflict. A Year 9 student gave a reading of ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae written in 1915.

Feedback from the visit was that it was very moving for staff and students, especially the chance to quietly reflect in such a fashion. One student shared: ‘I think it is good that people are still continuing the tradition of Remembrance and that people that lost their life in all wars are being remembered for their service and sacrifice.’ Others mentioned the importance of remembering any and all wars, as their impacts have been felt by so many.
